TIP TESTING

Tip Tests are required for all of our Youth and Teen students to progress in Belt Rank and Class Level. They are typically held the last Wednesday and Thursday of each month during the student’s regularly scheduled class time.  During this time, students will be tested on all the skills and concepts that were taught during that month’s “Evolution”. We have 4 requirements that will determine if the student is eligible to earn their new Tip or “Black Stripe” for their belt.  By fulfilling all four requirement, a student will earn ONE black stripe or “Tip” on their belt. Depending on their belt and membership level, students will be required to earn at least 3 Tips to eligible to Graduate and earn a new belt rank.

  1. Attendance: Students must attend a minimum of 6 classes that month (8 recommended)
  2. Attitude: Students must demonstrate a positive attitude and leadership in classes, home, and at school.
  3.  Accountability: Students must come prepared to class. On time, Ready to Start, Complete uniform and equipment, and attendance card.
  4.  Ability: Each month’s’ Evolution will have a specific set of skills that a student must perform with “Objective” goal requirements. Even though multiple belt levels will be testing at the same time, higher ranks will have more challenging objectives to fulfill.
Such a great workout and so much fun! Mr. Thomas is an excellent instructor that is able to bridge the gap between the experienced and the not-so-experienced (me).  The exercises were easy to follow and just the right intensity to get a good sweat going while building strength, endurance and confidence.  I highly recommend this center of martial arts and fitness for anyone wanting to get fit, learn real usable skill and to develop a new level of self-confidence and strength. Plus, Mr. Thomas is a truly gifted instructor that is patient and supportive but very passionate about his work and his art.  Do yourself a favor a try out a class and see what you've been missing!
